Perth fuel price to hit a record high

Perth fuel prices will hit a record high tomorrow with the metropolitan average for ULP reaching 160.6 cents per litre (cpl). The highest ULP price will be 165 cpl at Mundijong. Excluding smaller outer metropolitan sites, the peak ULP price tomorrow will be 163.9 cpl.

The previous highest daily metropolitan average for ULP was 160 cpl on 15 July 2008 when the ULP price peaked at 172 cpl at Mundijong. Excluding smaller outer metropolitan sites, the peak ULP price in Perth on that day was 170.9 cpl.

FuelWatch advises Perth motorists to fill up before 6am tomorrow when fuel prices will increase.

On Thursday, 25 July 2013, most Coles Express, Caltex and Caltex Woolworths sites are hiking their ULP price by 14 cpl up to 163.9 cpl. Most BP and Gull sites are increasing their ULP price to 161.9 cpl and most Peak sites are going up to 160.9 cpl. However there will be over 30 Perth sites selling below 150 cpl.

Given that Perth ULP prices follow a weekly cycle, with Thursday and Friday being the most expensive days, FuelWatch recommends filling up today and paying no more than 150.5 cpl.

Wednesday’s cheapest ULP is available for:

  • 145.9 cpl at Peak Glen Forrest and Peak Sawyers Valley in the East;
  • 147.8 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Melville, Caltex Woolworths Beckenham and Caltex Woolworths Warnbro Fair in the South; and
  • 147.8 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Morley Galleria in the North.
