A wild fire occurred at Lot 2 Location 1039, Moonup Road, about 40 km west of Esperance, on Tuesday 14 December 2004. EnergySafety carried out an investigation into the cause of the fire and determined that the fire started when a sheep came into contact with a fallen 19.1 kv phase conductor.  The pole supporting the phase conductor had previously fallen to the ground. Heat generated from current flow through the sheep ignited dry stubble.
